Heather Knowles, CSP, MS

Founder | Principal Consultant, Black Banner Safety

Heather Knowles founded Black Banner Safety with a mission: to deliver grounded, tactical solutions for the real world.

With over two decades of experience in the U.S. Navy, aerospace, manufacturing, and public safety, Heather has led safety programs in aircraft maintenance, solid rocket propellant production, circuit board fabrication, power and hand tool manufacturing, and law enforcement and corrections. She has brought safety leadership and risk management expertise in each of these high-risk environments, always under pressure and always with lives on the line.

She doesn’t just study risk. She has lived it.

Her approach is practical, adaptive, and built for real operations. Heather believes safety is never one-size-fits-all, and the best solutions emerge in the grey space between rigid compliance and real-world performance.

She’s not here to play gotcha or push generic programs. She’s here to solve problems, reduce risk, and empower teams to work safer, smarter, and more confidently.

Heather holds the CSP credential, dual OSHA Specialist designations in General Industry and Construction, and a Master’s in Occupational Safety & Health, combining technical expertise, strategic insight, and lived experience in every solution.

Black Banner Safety was built for the doers - the ones who get it done. Heather’s role is to make sure they get it done safely, sustainably, and without losing their edge.

Get Your Safety Ducks in a Row. For Real.

Most teams don’t need another spreadsheet. They need one system that pulls safety, risk, and compliance into the same cockpit and actually fits how the work gets done.

That’s what the Flightline, built on Reliant RM, is for. As a licensed Reliant RM distributor, Black Banner designs, configures, and administers your environment so your people can focus on operations instead of acting as accidental system admins.

What you gain with a Flightline build:

  • One source of truth – Audits, incidents, inspections, training, and corrective actions in one system with clear ownership.

  • Real-time visibility – Dashboards tuned to your operations so leaders, supervisors, and frontline staff see what matters to them.

  • Audit-ready records – Consistent, complete history when regulators, insurers, or executives start asking hard questions.

  • Support that sticks – Implement through The Terminal, then either run Reliant RM internally with Black Banner maintaining licensing, or move into Skywatch or Control Tower for ongoing system stewardship.
